If you are like me, you plan on eating a fair amount of food on Thursday…maybe more than you would normally eat during a meal. So be prepared! I am! I always keep a good digestive enzyme complex on hand, especially for larger meals like what we will have on Thanksgiving Day. Digestive enzymes are unique proteins that help break down carbohydrates, fats and proteins from food into compounds that can be used by the body for nourishment and energy. If your body does not produce enough enzymes, you may be experiencing bloating, gas, indigestion and heartburn after meals. Taking a digestive enzyme complex may help alleviate those symptoms by enhancing the digestive process. The other thing I keep on hand is ginger, one of my favorite herbs of all time. Ginger is a good tonic herb for the stomach and can help with nausea and indigestion. I always keep ginger on hand for any type of tummy troubles.
So be prepared to enjoy your feast this year, and don’t let digestive difficulties ruin it for you. Keep some enzymes and ginger around, and have a wonderful blessed Thanksgiving Day!

Is anyone else sort of freaking out that it’s November?!? What happened to this year? And Thanksgiving and Christmas are just weeks away! It’s enough to cause a little stress in my own life…maybe in yours also. I do weight training exercise and occasionally some yoga, which certainly do help. But I have also found that one of my new best friends when I am dealing with stress is L-Theanine. L-Theanine is an amino acid naturally found in green tea. It’s great because it provides what has been called “alert relaxation.” In other words, it calms you down but doesn’t’ make you sleepy. It works by enhancing alpha waves in the brain. Alpha brain waves are usually seen when one is awake and there is a relaxed and effortless alertness. While relaxed and alertness sound like they contradict each other, in this case they don’t – they go hand in hand. And while L-Theanine is a great natural agent to use during the day, it can also be used at night to help you relax before bedtime. So if holiday stress is already creeping into your like, you may want to give L-Theanine a try too!
